Hello, and Welcome to a Choose Your Own Adventure Website! This website contains a story where you will take on the persona of Franklin D. Roosevelt as you make decisions pertaining to World War 2 as the Commander-in-Chief of the United States’ Military. You must both protect your allies (such as the United Kingdom and France) and your own nation’s security and interests as you decide how to (or how not to) participate in the Second World War.
Franklin Roosevelt was elected the President of the United States in November of 1932. Focusing mainly on the economic health of the American People, he enacted sweeping reforms to help sufferers of the Great Depression in his first 100 days as president. He helped bring recovery to businesses and agriculture, aid for the unemployed, and relief to those in danger of losing their homes in his New Deal program. He introduced Social Security, increased taxes on the wealthy, and brought new controls to banks and public utilities. He also gave a work relief program to the unemployed (Franklin D. Roosevelt). His agenda was to help the United States before anybody else. This should be your primary agenda as well.

Historical Context
In September of 1939, Adolf Hitler invaded Poland as a demonstration of Germany’s military power and expertise. This was the start of his plans for lebensraum, or living space for the supposedly superior German people. His plans for a Neuordnung Europas, or New Order of Europe, involved three wars. The first was a small and easy war against Czechoslovakia. Second came a difficult war against France and Great Britain. Third was a war against the Soviet Union, which Hitler hoped would provide resources for the fourth war, the war against the United States (Adolf Hitler). Thus, the United States was not immediately threatened by Germany. Yet its allies had declared war against Germany, and needed help.
