It is September 3 1939, The Germans invaded Poland two days ago, justifying their cause with a rather suspicious incident in Germany that occurred on the 31st of August. The German radio station, Sender Gleiwitz, was supposedly attacked by anti-German Polish saboteurs that, when in the station, broadcasted anti-Nazi propaganda. Found at the scene was the known polish sympathizer, Franciszek Honiok, riddled with bullets. No outside news source was allowed to investigate in detail and the very next day Hitler launched a full scale invasion of Poland from the north, south and west. Today France and United Kingdom; followed by the fully independent Dominions of the British Commonwealth, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa, declared war on Germany. Conflicting stories clash but form one frightening piece of patchwork, the realization Europe will destroy itself again and the world will be torn apart. Your allies now stand together against possibly the most terrifying army and state that has ever come into existence. In the Far East, Japan is brutally carving an empire out of China and its surrounding nations. America has been helping the Chinese, and recently denounced the trade treaty with Japan, creating a sentiment for the Chinese in the states and fostering hostility in Japan. The American military is considerably weak, not even having enough supplies to train troops with real guns (wooden guns were used as a substitute). You know it is your duty as FDR, the president of the US, to help your allies and protect your country but the populace demands isolationism. American intervention could possibly make the war shorter but fighting the German war-machine is a dangerous proposition. You use your reasoning to come down to options. You can either help the British and the French by sending supplies, like tanks, guns, and diplomatic support when needed, or you can declare war on Germany, and enter the new European theater.
